About Us

• INTREPID LAW GROUP* (ILG) is a law firm with principal offices in Rochester and Grosse Pointe, Michigan.    

• ILG is our fourth iteration of law firms (one of which being McDonnell, Conley, Arslanian & Neveux, LLP),  and we, along with  Richard L. McDonnell, our founder, decided that this next firm  should be different and reflect the demands and the needs of the times. We thought about creating an entirely virtual law firm but recognized that we still needed offices, conference rooms, reception, technical equipment, etc.

• So we came up with kind of a hybrid. Gone are the days of the expensive law libraries and document storage rooms (we developed our own databases to handle and store digital files with over 100,000 pages of content). Every case or opinion ever written can now be pulled up on a cell phone, and clients don’t want to pay for coffee served in fine china.

• Whereas in the past, our partners, associates and staff would have come to a huge suite of contiguous offices, we can now see each other wherever and whenever.  If the best lawyer among us  for the job lives in another county, we go there or they go here – and the client goes wherever it is most convenient for them!

• This is the way it is going to be for all firms in the future. There is no going back - we just wanted to be ahead of the curve.

              Note on our Firm name: 

•                Tired of using the typical alphabet soup of partners, we were kicking around other names when one of our sons stopped by with a model of the USS Intrepid, the name of the ship on which his grandfather served, an aircraft carrier, the most powerful warship of its day - the timing and the tribute were perfect. 

Richard L. McDonnell, founding member
